Cheers, to a new chapter of May I spoon you?
Hello and welcome to May I spoon you?! I hope this week finds you well and as always thank you for sharing this space with me.
I am working hard to revamp my newsletter. I believe that my story matters, I have been attending workshops and speaking with professionals that have provided amazing writing advice. I am so proud of myself (no brag) for starting this project and sticking to it. Thank you to those of you who read and subscribe. I hope I can do you proud. Stay tuned...
This week
Last week’s theme was ‘for the love of God Diana, get your crap together’. I have so many projects that I want to accomplish. I want to write, draw, journal, and create but most of my time is spent dooms scrolling on Instagram. I have hidden my phone, turned it off, and have even set my settings to only allow myself 15 minutes a day online (no surprise, that did not work). I am looking for inspiration everywhere and I recently came across Rebecca Atwood, a designer.
I instantly purchased her book. While I have no desire to decorate my home, I am looking for new ways that can help my writing. I love color, textiles, and patterns but I don’t incorporate them into my everyday life. I live in dark jeans and a basic tee. However, I correlate these designs into my writing by being able to visualize the colors and patterns of the words I write. My brain is weird, I know.
Rebecca Atwood then sent me down a rabbit hole and through her I found other amazing designers. Take a look and I hope they inspire you (in whatever creative road you are at) as much as they have inspired me.
In Lupus news…
I made an appointment for acupuncture! I am so excited about this. I have always wanted to try acupuncture but the appointment fee is not in my budget. A co-worker suggested that I ask my insurance if acupuncture is part of my benefits and thankfully it is. I came across this article regarding acupuncture and Lupus. I hope it can help my exhaustion and anxiety. I’ll report back after my appointment.
Now, May I spoon you?
I read this interview with Nicole Byer on Harper’s Bazaar. I have been a huge fan of Nicole Byer for years. I remember watching her on MTV’s Girl Code. I became obsessed with her style and her comedic timing. Enjoy!
Good Girls update: last Sunday I completely forgot about the new episode. In my defense, there was no new episode on Easter Sunday. Therefore it completely slipped my mind. I know that I am totally biased to this but this show is AH-MAZING.
So, spoiler alert, Rio has a boss. I am so excited about the direction the show is taking and I am crossing my fingers and toes that Brio gets it on again.
I hope you all are watching and if you are not tuning in on Sundays, catch up on Hulu. Honestly, just watch it if only to feast your eyes upon Rio. Also, please check out this article on Buzzfeed and this review on Slate.
Again, thank you so much for reading. It means the world to me that you support my little newsletter. I am so excited about the direction May I Spoon You? is taking and I thankful that you are along for the ride. Be safe!
